Red Blends from Portugal

Thanks to Yuri at Figu bar and restaurant in Lisbon, we were able to try many interesting and tasty Portuguese wines! My favorite from this group was the Papa Figos which was a very smooth red wine blend from the Duoro Valley. There was a bit of the local terroir in this wine, some floral with earthy flavors, medium amount of minerality and well balanced. At the other end was the Assobio also from the Douro region..but I think it was just too young..It was a bit too tart in a medium bodied red blend. Below are photos of the very ecclectic interior..a nice change from the standard restaurant to be sure! The other wines were moderately priced and like most of the red blends that I tasted in Portugal the wines are very approachable and delicious especially with food.
