John Wine Snob says:
I am a bit confused by this wine. Is it supposed to taste like that, or was it stored improperly? It is hard to tell with wines from Armenia because most of them suck. I got this Areni 2008 red blend for $12 in a Russian grocery store in Phoenix called Yasha’s. Every time I have an Armenian wine I have high hopes, but I always know what will happen. Disappointment. I poured a glass and it was a little bitter and had the taste of unripe currants, so I decanted and let it breathe for about 30 minutes. It got a little smoother, but was still not a thrill. I will give it 2 stars only because of my Armenian heritage; otherwise it would get a 1.
