10 Best value champagne, sparkling wines for New Years 2014

sparklingGood riddance to 2013! Let’s ring in the new year !! 2014 is bound to be a great !…and so let’s start it right with some tasty sparkling wines that won’t break the bank! First of all.. for me….champagne  should have Pinot Noir grapes in it for me to like it. The Pinot adds complexity and more depth of character, but there are some sparkling wines that are 100 percent chardonnay that I like as well. The bottom line for champagne or sparkling wines like regular non bubbly wines is this:  the wine will taste better and be more memorable ( whether it’s expensive or not ) if it’s part of a story that brings friends and families together to experience an event. a point in time or special occasion. Enjoy! and see you next year!

Chandon , Blanc de Noirs : One of my favorites since they began making this in California.

Jacob’s Creek Chardonnay, Pinot Noir: Great value sparkler with some oak and nice tasty bubbles

Korbel California Champagne Chardonnay: I prefer the Blancs de Noir but for the price this chardonnay is another great value that tastes good.

Domaine St. Michelle Brut: Smooth and fairly well balanced with nectarine flavors

Santa Marguerita Prosecco: More body than most proseccos with a golden hue and a nice amount of apple and apricot flavors.

Gina Presecco: Light white wine with bubbles and a bit of fruit sweetness.

Lucien Albrecht Brut Blanc de Blanc : With a light golden color, some minerality and a bit of must. A wonderful Champagne that’s from Alsace.

Gruet Blanc de Noirs : Great value sparking wine from New Mexico. Medium golden color with creamed pear flavors.

Scharffenberger Brut Excellence: A great blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that create a full bodied dry sparkling wine .

Conde de Caralt Cava Brut : A blend of 5 grapes that have a apple crisp flavors with a bit of the earth. Good value for  a decent sparkling wine under $10.
