Cotes du Rhone versus Cotes du Rhone Villages

We compared the Valreas Cotes du Rhone Villages and the Reserve Perrin  Cotes du Rhone. I loved the nose of the Perrin. Oaky, earthy, rich Burgundy terroir. The tastes were different..The Perrin was decent but didn’t hold up compared to the Valreas  . Also, with the price as a consideration: The Valreas was $5.99 compared to $8.99 of the Perrin.
